THE GRID MARKS

On May 20, 1967, Stefan “Steve” Michalak, an industrial mechanic and amateur prospector, reported a harrowing encounter with two unidentified craft in the Manitoba wilderness.

While examining a quartz vein, he observed two disc-shaped objects descending; one landed nearby on a flat rock while the other departed. Believing it was an experimental American military craft, he attempted to communicate in multiple languages including English, Russian, and German.

The Receipts: Physical Evidence

Unlike most UFO stories, Falcon Lake left a trail of physical trauma that the Canadian government has never been able to fully close:

• The Checkerboard Burns: Michalak was left with a perfect grid of circular burns on his abdomen after a blast of hot gas from a vent.
• Radiation Sickness: In the following months, he suffered from nausea, weight loss, and a drop in his white blood cell count.
• Radioactive Soil: Investigators recovered soil samples from the site showing trace amounts of Radium-226.

Theory: Secret Technology or Hoax?

Investigators have pointed to projects like the Avrocar, a circular VTOL aircraft developed by Canada and the U.S. in the 1950s, as a potential match for the whirring motors and hissing sounds Michalak reported.

Stefan Michalak passed away in 1999, never changing his story or admitting to a hoax. Today, his original burnt clothing resides in the University of Manitoba Archives.
